Sunflowers at entrance to Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (2009)

These sunflowers were made by apprentices at the Camelia Botnar Foundation, which provides residential training and work experience for disadvantaged young people under the age of 21. (The horse sculpture outside the Botnar Research Centre was also made by apprentices from this Foundation.)
The stems are 4½ metre lengths of steel, and the flowers were hand-sculpted from mild steel.
