History in old postcards: Crown & Thistle, Old Road
The postcard above shows Old Road as it passes through Titup around the time of the First World War. The Crown & Thistle pub on the right was built in the mid-nineteenth century to replace Titup Hall, a seventeenth-century coaching inn.
The detached light-coloured house on the left of the above picture is now numbered 117.
The pub is due to close at the end of 2011.
