Manor Ground: First planning application

These are the proposals that were rejected in July 2000, on the grounds that they would cause a traffic nightmare. The second application, which has now been approved, is only a very slight improvement.

  • Demolition of existing stands, terraces, floodlights and associated football club buildings
  • Erection of 2- and 3-storey hospital building (6,800 sq m) with 152-space underground car park accessed from Beech Road and exiting via Osler Road, access from London Road to 18-space surface car park and service yard, exiting via Osler Road
  • Generator compound in service yard
  • Erection of 90 flats (87 x 2-bedroom and 3 x 1-bedroom) in 3- and 4-storey blocks, with 72 surface car-parking spaces and 38 spaces in an underground car park, all accessed from Beech Road
  • Provision of area of public open space, associated landscaping and emergency access from proposed hospital site
  • Extension of Headington Bowls Club car park with gated exit on to internal access road leading to Osler Road
  • Provision of cycle route from London Road to Cuckoo Lane.
