On 1 July 2011, Joe Callaghan, a student at Ruskin College, unveiled the foundation stone of the new building housing the Callaghan Library which was to be built on the Ruskin Hall (Rookery) site in 2011/12. Joe is the grandson of Jim Callaghan (Prime Minister 1975–9) after whom the library is named. The stone can be seen low down on the back of the building, facing the walled garden.
