An exciting event in Bury Knowle Park in 1993 was the steam engine rally organized by Dr Tony Marchington
(the founder of the Oxford Molecular Company who once owned the Flying Scotsman)

The three pictures below show how the heavy rain turned the park into a sea of mud, which is probably why the fair was never held again:
