War Memorials
Oxfordshire Light Infantry
Oxford & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry:
- South African War Memorial
(this is included because it was formerly a prominent feature at the Plain
in Oxford, but is now at Dalton Barracks) - First and Second World War Memorial, Rose Hill
City War Memorial
Parish War Memorials on or visible from the streets of Oxford
Many parish churches also have plaques inside the church recording their war dead: this site only deals with outdoor memorials in the city of Oxford (including present-day suburbs which were outside the city at the time of the First World War). The following memorials are on or near the road:
- St Margaret’s Church war memorial, North Oxford
- New Marston War Memorial, Marston Road
- Summertown War Memorial, Portland Road
The First World War in Headington & Marston website shows three churchyard war memorials, and also provides a list of those listed on the rolls of honour inside the churches.
