The famous crime writer Dorothy Leigh Sayers (1893–1957) was born here at the Head Master’s House of Christ Church Cathedral School, where her father, the Revd Henry Sayers, was headmaster. He was also Chaplain of Christ Church, and she was his only child.
By the time of the 1901 census the family had moved to Bluntisham-cum-Earith in Huntingdonshire, where her father became Rector.
