Inscriptions: Private Memorial
This plaque on the wall of Mortimer Hall in Old Marston Road looks like an official blue plaque, but it is in fact a private memorial. It reads:

Joan
James Edward Busfield was a former chairman of South Oxfordshire District Council, and he and his wife Ruth lived in Old Marston village from 1968 until their deaths in 2000 and 2003 respectively.
Their children had the clock above the plaque installed in December 2010 to commemorate their parents’ love of the village.
