Walton Street: Plater College

The Catholic Social Guild founded the Catholic Workers' College at 1 Walton Well Road in 1921 in memory of Father Charles Plater, a young Jesuit who had dreamed of founding an English Roman Catholic college.
The college remained here for 34 years. It moved to Boar's Hill in 1955, and to Pullen's Lane in Headington in the late 1970s. It closed down on 31 July 2005.
