Henry Lasher (d.1752)

Henry Lasher is likely to be a relation (perhaps the nephew) of the Oxford physician Joshua Lasher.

Lasher was matriculated at the University of Oxford as an apothecary ("Pharmacopol.") on 13 December 1698.

On 8 August 1702 Lasher married Elizabeth Trollop at Bampton. Their son, Joshua, was born on 2 August 1706 and baptised at St Mary the Virgin church in Oxford on 21 August 1706.

Lasher's wife Elizabeth died before her baby Joshua was one year old, and was described as being "of St Mary's" when she was buried at St Peter-in-the-East church on 8 July 1707. Joshua only lived to the age of two-and-a-half, and was buried inside the church of St Peter-in-the-East on 2 April 1710: he is described as the son of Henry Lasher, apothecary of St Mary's.

A Joseph Lasher was buried at St Mary's on 3 September 1726, and a diamond in the floor of the church (below) states that he died on 1 September 1726, aged 23. This could well be an elder son of Lasher, born in 1703.

Lasher may have gone to live with his brother in St Aldate's, as he was buried there on 17 September 1752.

The "Will of Henry Lasher, Apothecary of Oxford" (date of probate 14 November 1752) was deposited at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury: ref.  PROB 11/798.
