Headington Car Club

Headington’s thriving community car club was launched at the Headington Festival on 7 June 2008. We form part of the expanding local Oxcar network operated by Commonwheels, a non-profit Community Interest Company operating fleets in various parts of the country.
Two cars are currently available for hire here in Headington: a silver VW Polo located in St Leonard’s Road carpark, and a red Citroën C3 located in Binswood Avenue; both are low-emission diesels. Headington members may also utilise other cars in the Commonwheels fleet, in East Oxford and elsewhere.

Local people who join the scheme can hire a car for a period of time from half an hour up to several days, from as little as £3 an hour (plus a small mileage charge which includes fuel). Every member is issued with a Smartcard which unlocks the vehicle; bookings can be made by phone or on-line via Commonwheels.
Our car club benefits the community by reducing motoring costs for light car users, by meeting your family’s occasional second-car needs, and by lowering the demand for on-street parking in our congested local streets.
To join, or for further information, please email headingtoncarclub@gmail.com. You can join on-line, but be sure to join a week or two before you first need a car, to allow formalities to be completed.
If you own a presentable, reliable car that you no longer use
very much, and you want to reduce your motoring costs,
why not consider leasing your car to us?
